I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Manitoba, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. My path toward medicine and cancer research has been shaped not only by academic interest, but by personal experience. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer when I was a child, and over the past 13 years, I have witnessed her ongoing battle as the disease progressed and metastasized. This experience has taught me strength, compassion, and perseverance and has inspired me to dedicate myself to a career where I can make a real impact on patients and their families.
I joined CanSaRCC to contribute to meaningful cancer research and be part of a national collaboration improving care for pediatric patients. Outside of academics, I work at a personal care home, volunteer in hospitals and cultural organizations, and have experience as a lifeguard, swimming instructor, and skating coach. I also served for five years in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, earning the Air Cadet Service Medal.
