Dr. Carol Swallow

Dr. Carol Swallow is a surgical oncologist specializing in abdominal sarcomas and advanced gastrointestinal cancers. She received her MD and PhD from the University of Toronto. Her residency in general surgery was followed by a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology and a post-doctoral fellowship in colorectal cancer at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (NY). Dr. Swallow is the Bernard and Ryna Langer Chair of the University of Toronto Division of General Surgery, the head of the Division of General Surgery, Sinai Health System, an associate member of the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and a professor in the Department of Surgery and Institute of Medical Science at the University of Toronto, with a cross appointment to the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. Dr. Swallow’s research interests focus on cancer cell invasion and metastasis, including the cellular behaviours that lead to tumour seeding and recurrence after curative resection.
