Dr. Jon Hunter

Jon Hunter is a Professor in the department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, where he holds the Sam and Judy Pencer and Family Chair in Applied General Psychiatry. He is also the Head of consultation-liaison psychiatry at Sinai Health System, and Head of the psychosocial services in the Marvelle Koffler Breast Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital. He has been the consulting psychiatrist to the MSH Sarcoma program for over 20 years. He has participated in grants funded by NCIC, NIH, CIHR, and the Change foundation, and is a highly regarded clinical teacher. His clinical practice centers on the psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care of cancer patients. Research interests include psychological management of chemotherapy side-effects, group psychotherapy in women at high risk for breast cancer, the role of early life experience and attachment in adaptation to disease, and the importance of therapeutic alliance in patient care.
