Radiation-Induced Sarcoma in Survivors of Childhood Cancer

Children with cancer often require radiation treatment (RT) in order to maximize chance of cure. However, RT can be associated with significant long-term effects including growth, organ dysfunction, and as well, risk of second cancers.  One of the most common types of RT-associated second malignancies is sarcoma.  We have identified adults who have sarcoma caused by RT received as a child for pediatric cancer. 
The purpose of this study is to a) describe the treatment of children who developed radiation-induced sarcoma (RIS) as adults; b) describe the outcome of the RIS; c) compare the RT recipes included in protocols used at time of original diagnosis to more contemporary protocols.
